If you’re in a bright room with lights blazing and take out a flashlight and turn it on, nothing much will happen. However, if you’re in a dark room where you can’t see your hand in front of your face, and you strike a tiny match, the light will pierce the darkness causing the darkness to retreat where the light is.
I have heard for years from many preachers that in order to be a good Christian parent, the only options for educating your children are homeschool or Christian school. Having homeschooled my two boys and taught in a Christian school, I can see the value of each of those options. But my wife and I have also put all our children through public school. Now I teach at a public school, and my perspective has changed. I have to wonder – if all the light is taken out of the public school system, how dark will the darkness be?
